The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is implementing a new rule in the country from the beginning of next month i.e. September. This new rule is being brought by TRAI in the series of preventing and eliminating fake and spam calls. The Department of Telecommunications has released a new update on its official X handle. The Department of Telecommunications has given detailed information about the new decisions of TRAI
Strict rules for companies making spam calls
First rule
According to TRAI rules, if any institution is found making spam calls, then all the telecom resources of that institution will be disconnected. Apart from this, that institution will be blacklisted by all telecom operators for 2 years.
Here it has to be understood that according to the new rule, whoever is using his mobile number for telemarketing or promotion, his number will be blacklisted for 2 years.
It is known that the government had introduced a special number series 160 to prevent financial fraud. However, many times mobile users also receive calls related to promotion and telemarketing from private numbers. In such a situation, the new rule will apply to everyone.
Spammers beware! 🚨
As per TRAI decisions:
1. If any entity is found making spam calls, all telecom resources of that entity will be disconnected and will be blacklisted by all telecom operators for up to 2 years.
