Chief Secretary takes stock of security, other arrangements for upcoming assembly elections | News India

Jammu, August 20 (HS). Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo held a meeting of top civil administration and police departments to review the security arrangements made for the smooth conduct of assembly elections in the Union Territory. Apart from Director General of Police and Principal Secretary Home, Special Director General of Police, Special Director General Crime, ADGP, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir / Jammu, Secretary Transport, IGP Jammu / Kashmir, Transport Commissioner, DIG, Deputy Commissioner, SSP and other concerned senior officers also attended the meeting, while external officers participated through video conferencing.

On this occasion, the Chief Secretary urged the concerned to make strong arrangements for additional companies of CAPF required in each district.

He asked to identify such possible locations for camping of these security forces which are suitable in terms of water, electricity, toilets and other basic amenities. He also urged the administration to pay attention to the security and accommodation of the contesting candidates. He advised to make adequate arrangements for such protected persons along with other requirements for their campaigning and electioneering. He urged the Transport Department to prepare a pre-roadmap in collaboration with the concerned districts to provide required number of buses, LMVs and HMVs for carrying the polling staff, security forces and other poll materials.

He directed the concerned divisional commissioners to specify the locations, carry out necessary repairs, if any, before the actual dates of polling as well as to personally monitor these activities. He directed them to submit daily reports of the progress made in this regard.

Besides this, the Chief Secretary reviewed the preparations and plans of the concerned Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Transport Department to meet the requirements. He asked them to maintain utmost coordination with each other so that this democratic exercise is completed in a very cordial manner with large participation of the public.
