New Tehri, 20 August (HS). Two players from Tehri district will also be part of the Indian team in the ITFU Asian Taekwondo Championship 2024 to be held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh from 22 to 25 August. Players from about 10 countries will show their talent in Taekwondo in various categories.
On Tuesday, at the Press Club, Devbhoomi ITFU Taekwondo Association President Ashok Kumar Rathore told reporters that he and Anushka Khanka from Tehri will participate in this prestigious competition. While Ashok will participate in the senior category, Anushka will participate in the middle category. This time India has been given the responsibility of hosting the Taekwondo competition. In which more than 500 players from 10 countries including India, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, England, Australia will participate.
Mr. Rathore said that while Taekwondo is a sport that provides good physical fitness, it is also useful for self-defense of girls. Anushka said that the way cases of harassment against women are increasing in the country, by learning Taekwondo she can prove her self-defense and better fitness.
