Ahmedabad: Efforts are being made by the central government to increase women's participation in India from women empowerment. With the aim of providing financial services to all the people across the country, the government is working tirelessly to increase women's participation, which includes Jan Dhan accounts and special schemes and services for women to later relief to women in loans and stamp duty. Slowly, the results of these efforts are also starting to come.

According to a new report by the National Statistical Office, every third bank account is in the name of a woman. However, on the other hand, only one-fifth of the total money deposited in banks is in the bank accounts of women account holders. This shows the financial inequality between men and women in the country. According to a recent report, the share of women in the country's banking system has increased. However, the statistics show that India still has to face a lot of difficulties to create harmony.

Data shows that out of the total 2.52 billion individual accounts as of March 2023, a total of 36.4 percent i.e. 91.77 crore were in the name of women. These accounts include Hindu Undivided Families, local individuals, farmers, industrialists, professionals, self-employed, salaried individuals and others. If we look at the status of the total money deposited in these accounts, then the total deposit in this bank account is Rs. Out of the amount of 187 lakh crore, only 20.8 percent of the amount is in women's bank accounts. According to the report, Rs 39 lakh crore is deposited in the name of women alone.

The most shocking thing is that this disparity is more in urban areas. Only 16.5 percent of the total amount deposited in metros, i.e. Rs. 1.9 lakh crore is in the name of women, while 30 percent of the total amount deposited in rural areas, i.e. Rs. 5.91 lakh crore is in the name of women. Experts believe that this difference will also be due to more Jan Dhan accounts being opened in urban areas.
