Dumka, August 19 (HS). A woman died on the spot after being hit by an unknown vehicle near Gojamba turn on the Dumka Bhagalpur State Highway in the Ramgarh police station area of the district.
The woman, Ruby Devi, was returning from Nonihat with her husband Mukesh Kumar to get medicine for her two-month-old child. Ruby Devi is said to be a resident of Pathra village under Jarmundi block. She had come to Thekcha at her parent's house a few days back to tie Rakhi. While returning from Nonihat market with medicine on Monday afternoon, the woman died after being hit by unknown vehicles near Gojamba Mode. Her husband Mukesh Kumar was also badly injured. With the help of the villagers, the injured Mukesh Kumar was sent to Phoolon Jhano Medical College Hospital, Dumka for better treatment.
As soon as the information of the incident was received, Ramgarh police station in-charge Shashikant Sahu reached the spot with his entire team and took stock of the incident. The traffic remained blocked for about 6 hours. BDO Abhay Kumar reached the spot and tried to pacify the villagers. After a lot of effort, the Dumka Bhagalpur main road was cleared of the jam after 6 hours. Ramgarh police sent the body to Dumka for post-mortem.
