According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many parts of Bihar, Chhattisgarh and South India. According to the Meteorological Department, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are also on alert, continuous heavy rains are expected for the next five to seven days.

Along with this, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains at some places in Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra in the next four days. Apart from this, there may be sporadic rains at some places in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and Chandigarh. According to the department, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may receive widespread light to moderate rains till August 20. There is a possibility of sporadic to widespread rains in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan.

The Meteorological Department said that a low pressure area is forming over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas and it is slowly moving towards Bangladesh and the Gangetic region of West Bengal.
