Meerut, an important city in the western region of UP, today got the gift of a new train from the country's capital Delhi. The country's fastest Namo Bharat train started running in Meerut from today. This development will greatly facilitate the passengers traveling between Delhi and western UP. Especially for the people of Meerut, the journey which used to take hours earlier, will now be completed in minutes.

However, this facility will be more expensive to save time. The 42 km journey will now be completed in 25 minutes. The Namo Bharat train will start its first journey from Ghaziabad Sahibabad station to Meerut station today. The train will stop at Modinagar, Muradnagar, Dubai Depot, Guldhar and Ghaziabad stations on this route.

How much will be the fare of Namo Bharat Train?

The fare from Meerut South station to Sahibabad station will start from Rs 110 for general class and Rs 220 for premium class. The short distance fare between two nearest stations is Rs 30 for general class and Rs 60 for premium class. The current train fare from Meerut to Ghaziabad is up to Rs 45, while bus fares will start from Rs 80.

Although bus journeys are often long and take an hour or more due to traffic jams, the new train service is a great way to save time, although at a higher cost. The new service is expected to benefit commuters who frequently travel between these areas, as it will provide a faster alternative to existing travel options. Although commuters will have to spend a little more than before to avail this facility, it will save precious time in their daily commute.

It was inaugurated by PM Modi last year

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Namo Bharat train in October last year. Initially it operated between Sahibabad and Dubai Depot. In March this year, the service was extended from Dubai Depot to Modinagar North. As of today, the route extends from Modinagar North to Meerut South. The train is planned to reach Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan station by next year.

Namo Bharat train will run at a speed of 180 kmph

The Namo Bharat train can reach speeds of 180 kmph, but for now it will run at 160 kmph, making it the fastest train in India. The project is the country's first regional rapid rail initiative. The train has six coaches, one reserved for women and another for premium class passengers. A general coach has 72 seats, while a premium coach has 62 seats.
