Tulsi is considered to be the form of Goddess Lakshmi. While Tulsi has religious importance, on the other hand, Tulsi plant has been given a special place in astrology as well. For this reason, it is advised to keep a Tulsi plant in the house. The scriptures say that if there is no Tulsi plant in the house, then the house is surrounded by negativity and evil forces. However, it is also written in the scriptures that Tulsi plant should not be kept inside the house. In such a situation, let us know from Jyotishacharya Radhakant Vats.
Does keeping Tulsi plant inside house bring bad luck?
Tulsi is a symbolic form of Goddess Lakshmi. Scriptures say that when a deity is absent from the house or there is no idol of that deity in the house, then symbolic objects related to them can be kept in the house.
On the other hand, if there is an idol of any deity in the house, then it is not auspicious to keep the symbols related to them in the house because their symbols should be kept at the same place where the real deities are present. It is equal to insulting them.
Similarly, in earlier times, every house had a statue of Goddess Lakshmi. For this reason, people of earlier times used to plant Tulsi in their homes and courtyards. So that the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and the auspiciousness of her symbolic Tulsi remain intact.
Apart from this, another reason for keeping Tulsi in the courtyard or balcony of the house is that Tulsi is the wife of the Shaligram form of Lord Vishnu, while Mother Lakshmi herself is the consort of Lord Vishnu.
In such a situation, keeping Tulsi and Maa Lakshmi's idol or picture together inside the house brings inauspiciousness in the house and creates family problems. Therefore, Goddess Lakshmi is kept inside the house and Tulsi is kept in the courtyard.
