Ludhiana News: All petrol pumps in Ludhiana will remain completely closed on Sunday. Only emergency services will remain operational. Petrol Pump Dealers Association (PPDA) has protested by keeping the pumps closed today in protest against the central government not increasing the commission. They have decided that they will keep the petrol pumps closed every Sunday to reduce their expenses.
Commission has not increased for the last 7 years
Pump owners say that their commission has not been increased for the last 7 years. They are working on 2 percent commission while their demand is to give 5 percent commission. The association is also discussing at the district level to keep petrol pumps closed every Sunday across Punjab from August 25.
President Ranjit Singh Gandhi said that the commission of all traders has been increased, but the commission of petrol pump owners has not been increased for the last 7 years. Today a thing of 80 rupees has reached 120 rupees but the government is silent on increasing the commission of oil sellers. At present, all petrol pumps from Khanna to Phillaur will remain closed today. Letters are also coming from many cities in support of keeping petrol pumps closed. Banners have been put up at petrol pumps, so that people can also know how bad the condition of petrol pump owners is.
Even 5 months ago, petrol pump owners had gone on strike for not buying oil. At that time, the central government had assured that their commission would be increased after the elections, but now the government is again ignoring them.
Ambulances and government vehicles will be given petrol or diesel
Gandhi said that emergency services will remain operational during the weekend. Ambulances and government vehicles will be given petrol or diesel. A district level meeting has been organised in this regard today. Soon meetings will be held at Punjab level and state level so that the commission of petrol pump owners can be increased.
