Raipur, 17 August (HS). The Forest Department organized a Van Mahotsav program under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign in the Manendragarh District Collector Office premises on Saturday. In the event, Cabinet Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal inaugurated the Van Mahotsav by cutting the ribbon and planting saplings in the campus through the Miyawaki method.

On this occasion, the Health Minister said that the Divisional Forest Officer told about the Miyawaki method in the district through the Van Mahotsav. Today, forestry is being done through this method in big metro cities. Dense trees are being planted at a distance of one meter. This gives a dense forest. Due to which we get pure air. It absorbs 30 percent carbon dioxide. It also absorbs the same amount of air and noise pollution. Our Manendragarh can become an urban heat island. The people of the district have planted a lot of trees. Similarly, there is a need to plant more trees in empty places. Due to which we will get the benefit of a healthy environment. This time the rain has been good in our district. We will get sufficient amount of humidity and moisture for plantation. He called upon the district public representatives, officials, beneficiaries of Mahtari Vandan and school students to plant as many trees as possible.

Along with this, he asked the forest officer to conduct the tree plantation program in the district in mission mode. So that we can provide pure and clean air to our next generation. While describing the achievements of environment and forestry, he said that Honorable Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has given a big gift to the district in the form of Guru Ghasidas Tamor Pingla. Which has been approved by the cabinet. This is the third largest tiger reserve of India. He asked everyone to take all possible measures to plant trees and protect the environment. Trees are necessary to keep the environment of the earth clean. For this, all people should plant as many trees as possible.

He said that the Central Government has launched the campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' with the objective of improving the environment and climate. Therefore, all the residents of the district should join this campaign and make it successful. Plantation work should not be done only in the forest area but also outside the forest area in private and government lands such as Anganwadi, police post, garden, hospital, crematorium, government premises, hostel, school premises etc.

Forest Divisional Officer Manish Kashyap while explaining about the Miyawaki method said that, using this method, the empty spaces (backyards) around the houses can be converted into small gardens or forests. The pioneer of the Miyawaki method is Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki. Through this, small places in the district are to be developed as mini forests. So that the district can be saved from heat wave. With this method, plantation increases from three to four times.
