Big relief to Adani Power: After the political turmoil in Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina leaving the country, there is a lot of confusion about business in Bangladesh. At this time, the central government has given a big relief to the Adani Group by amending the electricity export rules. Adani has now got permission to sell electricity to India from the power plants supplying to Bangladesh. The Center has now cleared the way for Adani Power to sell electricity in the local market.
Due to the Central Power Export Regulation, Adani Power was selling electricity from its 1600 MW Godda plant in Jharkhand only to Bangladesh. But it was not clear how the trade agreement with the interim government would proceed due to the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh. But the Center has amended the law and opened the way to sell electricity in the local market. Now Adani Power will be able to sell electricity in the country.
The new reforms have brought great relief to the Adani Group. Now, in case of delay or non-payment while supplying electricity to Bangladesh, it will be able to sell its electricity in the country. The Adani Group said that with the government's decision, we will be able to help meet the growing demand for electricity in the country.
According to the order of the Ministry of Power issued on August 12, the government has amended the Electricity Export Regulation Guidelines, 2018. Now according to the new amendment, if power generators produce electricity and are not able to export it, then they can sell it within the country. This can be the entire production or its partial production.
