Haridwar, August 15 (HS). Captain Deepak Singh of the 48th National Rifle, who sacrificed his life in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated at Haridwar's Kharkhari crematorium on Thursday. Uttarakhand's Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi attended Captain Deepak Singh's last rites. He paid a heartfelt tribute to the martyr by offering a wreath on his mortal remains and bid him a final farewell.
The Minister of Soldiers' Welfare met the family members and consoled them and assured them of all possible help from the Central and State Government.
At the time of the funeral, many people including Haridwar District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, SSP Pramod Singh Dobal, District Sainik Welfare Officer Wing Commander (Retd.) Sarita Pawar, Colonel Virendra Bhatt were present.
