Kathua, August 15 (HS). The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm at Government Degree College Boys Kathua. The flag hoisting ceremony was done by the Principal of the college, Professor Seema Mir. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by a march past by NCC cadets and various cultural presentations were given by the students to showcase their talent and love for the nation.
Principal Professor Seema Mir wished everyone a Happy Independence Day. In her address, she gave the message of unity and strength and also spoke about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. She motivated the students to stay away from the menace of drugs. She praised all sections of the college, especially the teaching, non-teaching, NSS, NCC, students who remained united and celebrated the day with great enthusiasm. The programme was conducted by Dr. Yash Paul Sharma (Staff Secretary), Vishal Gupta and Kanika Sharma of the college, students of Semester 5. On this occasion, meritorious students in the academic field, outstanding NCC and NSS volunteers and students who excelled in sports and various faculty members were felicitated with medals, certificates, mementos and shields. On this occasion, Dr. Yash Paul Sharma (Staff Secretary) proposed the vote of thanks and then the programme concluded with the National Anthem.
