Varanasi, March 02 (HS). Under the National Urban Health Mission, medical and health facilities are continuously expanding at the urban community health centers (CHCs) of the district. In the same sequence, Regional Councilor Amit Maurya inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra at CHC Chowkaghat on Saturday.
The councilor said that with the opening of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra at the CHC, good medicines will be available to the patients at low prices. Any person can buy cheap medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendra. Generic medicines will be available at these centers at 50 to 90 percent lower prices than branded medicines.
On this occasion, Superintendent of Urban CHC Chowkaghat, Dr. Falguni Gupta said that under the direction of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sandeep Chaudhary, Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra has been started at the CHC. Jan Aushadhi Center has been opened at CHC in collaboration with Silkan Healthcare organization. He said that often patients have to buy branded medicines from outside the CHC at higher prices, but medicines will be available at Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra at comparatively 50 to 90 percent lower prices. High quality medicines and surgical equipment will be available here. This will greatly benefit not only the poor but also the middle class.
It is noteworthy that with the opening of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra at the urban CHC Chowkaghat, till now centers have been established at 11 other government medical units of the district. This includes Mental Hospital Pandeypur, SSPG Divisional District Hospital Kabirchaura, DDU Government Hospital Pandeypur, District Women's Hospital Kabirchaura, LBS Government Hospital Ramnagar, CHC Arajiline, CHC Cholapur, PHC Chiraigaon, PHC Harhua, PHC Baragaon and PHC Pindra. Soon, Jan Aushadhi Kendra will be started in Maulana Azad Bunkar Hospital located at Badi Bazaar.
