Monsoon Update: Heavy rains, floods and landslides have wreaked havoc from Himachal Pradesh to Uttarakhand in the North East and from Manipur Mizoram to Kerala and Karnataka in South India. Due to landslides at many places in Uttarakhand, vehicular traffic has had to be stopped on the Adi Kailash route. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heavy rains in 27 states and union territories today (August 15).

According to the Meteorological Department, 27 states have issued a heavy rain alert. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the Western Himalayan region and all parts of South, East and North-East India. Heavy rain conditions will persist in these areas not only today but for the next 7 days. That is, from the mountains of Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh to Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, all the states of North-East India, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
