Bikaner, August 14 (HS). The statue of Ganga Singh, the development man, visionary and Bhagirath of the desert and former Maharaja of Bikaner state, has been installed in Sadul Club. This statue will be unveiled on Independence Day on August 15 by Ms. Siddhi Kumari, MLA of Bikaner East Assembly constituency.
Sadul Club Secretary Hanuman Singh Rathore said that like every year, Independence Day will be celebrated in Sadul Club premises. Flag hoisting will take place at 8:30 am and after this, the statue of Maharaja Ganga Singh will be unveiled between 11 am to 12:15 pm and on the same day, a get-together dinner for all the club members will be held at 7 pm. He said that all the members can participate in the Independence Day celebrations, statue unveiling ceremony and get-together with their families.
Rathore said that the statue of Maharaja Ganga Singh made of Ashtadhatu has been made from Jaipur. Its height is eight and a half feet. Maharaja Ganga Singh had built Sadul Club in 1902 as a tribute to Queen Victoria. He had provided 500 acres of land for this. At that time, one lakh two thousand 366 rupees were spent on the construction, which was collected through public subscription. Initially its name was Victoria Memorial Club.
