PR Sreejesh, who played an important role in helping the Indian team win a medal at the Paris Olympics, has retired. Now Indian hockey has taken a big and important decision to retire PR Sreejesh's jersey number 16.

Hockey India secretary Bholanath Singh has also announced that 36-year-old Sreejesh junior, who has worn the number 16 jersey for nearly two decades, will take over the role of national coach.
Speaking at a function organised in honour of Sreejesh, Bholanath Singh said, Sreejesh is now going to coach the junior team and we are planning to introduce jersey number 16 for the senior team forever We are retiring it. We are not retiring the jersey number 16 for the junior team. Now Sreejesh's successor will have the responsibility of preparing another Sreejesh in the junior team.
