Team India: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday made a major change in the schedule of the upcoming home series against Bangladesh and England. The board has also released the updated schedule. According to the new schedule, the schedule of one T20 match against Bangladesh and two T20 matches against England has been changed. Both these series are part of India's domestic season. Not only this, Gwalior has also been given the opportunity to host T20 matches. Gwalior will host an international match for the first time after 2010. In 2010, Sachin Tendulkar scored a double century in ODI on this ground.
Announcing the schedule, the BCCI said- The first T20 between India and Bangladesh, which was to be played in Dharamsala on October 6 as per the earlier schedule, has now been postponed due to upgradation and renovation work by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. Which will now be played in Gwalior. The match to be held in Gwalior will also be the inaugural match of the city's new stadium – Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. At the same time, this will be the first international match after the historic India-South Africa ODI match in 2010. In that match, Sachin Tendulkar became the first male cricketer to score a double century in ODIs.
The board also announced a swap of hosting venues for the first and second T20I against England. Chennai, which was earlier scheduled to host the first T20I, will now host the second T20I, while Kolkata will host the first T20I instead of the previously announced second T20I. The dates of the first (January 22, 2025) and second (January 25, 2025) T20I matches have not been changed. The change in venue became necessary after Kolkata Police requested the Bengal Cricket Association to change the date due to Republic Day-related commitments.
