New Delhi, August 14 (HS). The first T20 match between India and Bangladesh, which was to be held in Dharamsala, will now be played in Gwalior. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the above announcement on Tuesday night.

The change in venues had become necessary due to renovation work being carried out in the dressing rooms by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, the Board said in a release.

The match, which will still be played on October 6, will be the first international match at the newly built Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. This will be the first international match in Gwalior after Sachin Tendulkar scored a double century in an ODI against South Africa.

The venues for the first and second T20Is against England have also been changed. While the dates will remain the same (January 22 and 25 respectively), the first match will now be played in Kolkata instead of Chennai. Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, which was earlier scheduled to host the first match of the series, will host the second T20I.

“The change of venue was necessitated following a request by the Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal regarding their pre-Republic Day commitments and obligations,” the BCCI said.
