Haldwani, August 13 (HS). A large number of people from Gaulapar Sultan Nagari in Haldwani demonstrated at the Sub-District Magistrate's office along with local public representatives demanding the right to vote in the Panchayat elections. During this, the villagers alleged that they had been voting in the Panchayat elections till the year 2008 and after that their right to vote was taken away.
They vote in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, but their right to vote in Panchayat elections has been taken away. All the villagers of Sultan Nagari have demanded from the administration that they should be given the right to vote again in the upcoming Panchayat elections, otherwise the villagers will be forced to launch a violent agitation.
