Dehradun, August 13 (HS). On Tuesday, the State Cabinet has approved the Uttarakhand Tourism Entrepreneur Incentive Scheme-2024 to enable local residents and entrepreneurs to start business in the field of tourism and hospitality in the state on behalf of the Tourism Department.
The Tourism Department is already running the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali scheme for local unemployed youth. There is a provision for a maximum grant of Rs 33 lakh in this.
Tourism Policy-2023 was started with the aim of promoting capital investment in the state. In this, 100 percent grant could be obtained by creating tourism-hospitality projects of five crores or more. Uttarakhand Tourism Entrepreneur Incentive Scheme-2024 has been started with the aim of benefiting the small and medium investors of the state, whose capital investment limit is five crores or less.
The scheme includes capital grant, interest subsidy reimbursement and stamp duty reimbursement. The state has been divided into three categories to avail the benefits of the scheme. In these, the maximum amount of capital grant is provided from 80 lakh to 1.50 crore as per the specific category. Accordingly, interest grant is fixed at 3 percent maximum from 4 lakh to 6 lakh per year per unit. Apart from capital subsidy and interest subsidy, 100 percent reimbursement of stamp duty for setting up a unit is an important part of the scheme.
A five-member committee will be formed to approve the application:
To simplify the application process of this scheme applicable for permanent entrepreneurs of the state, online applications will be made through single window system. A five-member committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council for application approval.
Employment opportunities will increase, the scheme will remain effective till March 31, 2030:
Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council Chief Executive Officer and Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve said that the objective of the scheme is to create permanent employment for permanent residents along with tourism development in the state. The entrepreneurs availing the scheme will be required to provide at least 70 percent permanent employment to the permanent residents of the state. This scheme will be effective from the date of notification till 31 March 2030.
