Parenting Tips: In today's digital age, everyone spends most of their time surrounded by technology and gadgets. Be it children or adults, everyone is seen carrying some digital device with them. However, having these devices around all the time creates many problems.
Especially children have become addicted to mobile phones and games nowadays. Parents who are busy with their work give mobile phones or games to their children for entertainment, which has a negative impact on children. One of these problems is gaming addiction.
Nowadays many children are getting addicted to gaming. Gaming addiction is emerging as a very serious problem. Gaming addiction can prove to be very dangerous especially for the developing brain of children. After playing with the minds of children like an addiction, it plays with their bodies. Let us know some ways to avoid this-
Why is sport addictive?
The game challenges the human brain to take on new tasks and challenges after each task to prove its ability to move to the next level until it is declared the winner. These simple looking games become addictive and experience the fun that comes with it. Children do not want to play simple boring games, they pay more attention to games that offer achievement by accepting challenges, which easily leads to addiction.
A short-term virtual achievement gives them a sense of being part of a mission, which they eagerly pursue and it turns into an addiction.
Effects of game addiction
When children are asked to stop playing, they find the real world very normal and boring and nothing interesting compared to their games, which leads to them behaving irritably. Then when they get the game back, they become normal and feel like a hero who is out to save the world. Then the more they play games, the harder it becomes to get rid of this addiction.
How to protect children from game addiction?
- Teach kids to become heroes in real life instead of facing fake or bogus challenges. Give them real-life challenges that keep them busy and give them a sense of accomplishment just like gaming. This will also improve their personality, they will understand real-life challenges and learn to deal with them.
- Control any app the child plays games on with an OTP or password which the child cannot open easily.
- Limit the game time to one to two hours maximum, and make a strict no-tolerance rule for any deviation.
- Understand the age limit of playing the game yourself and only then allow downloading.
- Never allow playing games that involve nudity, bloodshed, violent and aggressive games.
- Encourage the child to indulge in outdoor games, sun exposure and exercise, which will make him healthy and strong and will keep him so busy that he will not have time to play sports.
