Jind, August 12 (HS). Farmers have set up their protest at Khatkar toll on Delhi-Patiala National Highway 352 since Sunday. Many officials of Bharatiya Kisan Union stayed at Khatkar toll at night and slept on their beds in the middle of the road. Farmers kept the toll free on the second day as well.

On Monday, Gurudev Ujhana said that the farmers have started a permanent dharna demanding that the toll be made free for the villagers of the area 20 kilometers from the toll, any vehicle with the flag of any farmer union, and the vehicle with the ID card of the farmer union. The workers of Khatkar toll misbehave with the farmer leaders and also snatch the ID cards that they have. This dharna will continue till the demands are not met. Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Samiti Vice President Kuldeep Singh Dhanda said that Khatkar toll is the most expensive toll. Our demands should be met. We have no animosity with anyone. We are protesting for our demands.

Bindra Nambardar said that we want a solution that the villages in the radius of 20 km should be toll free. Ravi Azad was threatened with death. We have the number of the person who threatened to kill us, which we will give to the administration. We will file a case against him. Toll employees snatch the cards and misbehave with them irrespective of which union they belong to.

The farmers' organization has a flag on its vehicle, a union banner and a badge. All the different organizations have made ID cards for their officials. But even after that, the employees present at Khatkar toll beat them and misbehave with them. The toll workers forcibly snatch the cards from them. The ID cards and even the Aadhar cards of many people have been snatched and kept in bags. Uchana police station in-charge Pawan Kumar said that after getting information about the farmers making the toll free, the police reached the spot. Policemen have been deployed there. The movement of vehicles is going on smoothly.
