UGC-NET Exam Supreme Court: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition challenging the decision to conduct the second round of the UGC-NET exam. The petitioners had challenged the decision to cancel the UGC-NET exam held on June 18 and conduct the exam for the second time. The Supreme Court refused to hear the petition filed in this regard. The UGC-NET exam is being conducted for the second time on August 21.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that 9 lakh people are going to take the exam. They cannot be pushed into uncertainty. Some students claimed that the June exam was cancelled. No exam should be conducted for the students till the CBI investigation is going on. The UGC NET exam was held on June 18, but was cancelled the very next day, as the government came to know about the rigging in the exam.
There will be increased uncertainty among students
A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra stressed that two months have passed since the decision to cancel the exam and conduct it again. Considering the application in the meantime will increase uncertainty among the students and create an atmosphere of chaos.
The Chief Justice said, 'Let it end here, we do not live in an ideal world. Let the exam be held on August 21, let the students have peace of mind.' The bench said that more than 9 lakh students are appearing in the exam and only 47 applicants have challenged it.
