The BSF has arrested 11 Bangladeshi nationals from the border who were trying to infiltrate into India. The BSF said that the Bangladeshi nationals were caught trying to infiltrate into India through the international border in West Bengal, Tripura and Meghalaya.

A BSF spokesperson said the arrested persons were being questioned and preparations were underway to hand them over to the state police for further legal action. The spokesperson said the BSF is in regular touch with its counterpart BGB on mutual issues, especially to prevent atrocities on Indian citizens and people belonging to the minority community in Bangladesh.

The Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) said that a smuggler was killed on the India-Bangladesh border in Malda district of West Bengal. A group of smugglers attacked BSF jawans, following which they were retaliated against. The incident took place on the night of 11-12 August when a group of smugglers attacked BSF personnel from Chandnichak border outpost of the force's 115th battalion under South Bengal border.
