US short-seller firm Hindenburg has claimed that SEBI chief Madhavi Puri Buch and her husband Dhawal Buch have stakes in offshore funds based in Bermuda and Mauritius. The report claims that these funds were used by Gautam Adani's brother Vinod Adani to buy and trade significant shares in the Adani Group. Following these allegations, Adani Group shares fell by up to 7 per cent. The stock market opened with a decline on Monday morning but later saw improvement.
The market opened with a fall, but then recovery started
First of all, talking about the BSE Sensex, this index of BSE closed at 79,705.91 points on Friday. Monday started with a decline at the level of 79,330.12. It was expected that the report of American short seller firm Hindenburg released last Saturday would have an impact on Sensex and Nifty. This was also seen in the beginning. But this effect did not last long. At around 11 am, the Sensex recovered after the initial decline and reached 79,735 points. Similarly, the Nifty index also reached 24,360 points. During the trading session, the Sensex once crossed 80,000 and reached the level of 80,106.18. At the time of writing the news, around 12.55 pm, the Sensex is up 237.59 points at 79943.50 and the Nifty is up 60 points at 24424.50.
Adani shares fell initially
But in the meantime, the shares of Adani Group's company fell. After the Hindenburg report, both the turmoil in the market and the sell-off are being cited as the reason for the fall. Let us also see which shares of Adani Group fell by how much.
Big break at Adani Green
Shares of Adani Enterprises touched the level of Rs 3013 in today's trading session. Earlier on Friday, it closed at 3186 points. Shares of Adani Port and Special Economic Zone opened at Rs 1480 and fell to Rs 1457 during the trading session. Shares of Adani Green Energy opened at Rs 656.05 but later recovered. Shares of Adani Green Energy Solutions Limited opened at Rs 915.70 with a fall of Rs 190 and later traded at Rs 1060. Similarly, shares of Adani Wilmore opened at Rs 370.
Adani Power drops 5 per cent
Besides, Adani Power shares opened nearly 5 per cent lower at Rs 660 and then fell to Rs 619. However, it was later seen trading at Rs 674 after recovering the gains. Adani Total Gas shares were seen trading as low as Rs 753 before trading back to Rs 828. Ambuja Cement shares opened at Rs 616 and were seen trading in the green thereafter.
