According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, neighboring countries are very important for India and as a neighbor, Maldives is our priority. Jaishankar said that we are also the closest allies in terms of history and relations.
The Foreign Minister said on Friday that India's partnership with Maldives is based on the desire to work together for each other's welfare and interests. Along with this, he emphasized that Maldives holds an important place in India's Neighborhood First policies.
Jaishankar met Maldives Foreign Minister Musa Jameer. He said, this is a partnership that has always enabled us to respond quickly and effectively to challenges. It is important for our approach to the ocean and our commitment to the global south.
Foreign Minister Jaishankar will meet Maldives President Muizzu during his visit. He will also discuss relations between India and Maldives. Jaishankar last visited Maldives in January 2023.
