Guwahati: Medicines worth more than Rs 120 crore were seized in an operation in Assam's Karimganj and Cachar districts, Assam Police said on Friday. Five accused have been arrested in the case.
According to a report, the Special Task Force and district police conducted a joint operation in Karimganj district. During the checking on Puwamara bypass, a huge amount of drugs was seized from the secret chamber of a 12 wheeler truck.
According to a police officer, the seized drugs include 3,50,000 Yaba tablets and 1.3 kg heroin hidden in 100 soap boxes. The value of the seized drugs is around Rs 115 crore.
On the other hand, in another operation in neighbouring Cachar district, the police seized Rs. 18,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 5.5 crore. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the work of the police on social media sites.
