Jammu, Aug 9 (HS): GGM Science College on Friday celebrated India's Independence Day with rangoli making and patriotic song competition. Organised by the cultural committee, NSS and NCC units, the event was centred around the theme “Freedom Struggle and National Heroes” and aimed to celebrate cultural heritage and promote unity among students.
These competitions, part of the college's ongoing Independence Day and Swachhata Pakhwada celebrations, showcased the students' artistic talent and patriotic spirit. Over 30 participants from various disciplines created intricate rangolis and gave soulful renditions of patriotic songs reflecting national pride and cultural diversity.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta praised the creativity and enthusiastic participation of the students. He said these competitions not only highlight the artistic talent of our students but also bring us together to celebrate the independence of our country. Jagam Salaria and Mansi won the first prize in the rangoli making competition while Sana Thakur and Aditi Basin got the second prize. Sahil Sharma and Aakriti Sharma were awarded the first and second prize respectively in the patriotic song competition.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where the winners were given trophies. The activities were judged by Prof. Vandana Khajuria and Prof. Jatinder Kaur who evaluated the entries on the basis of creativity, design and thematic relevance.
