Impeachment Motion: The opposition is preparing to bring an impeachment motion against Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar in the Rajya Sabha under Article 67. On Friday, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan questioned the tone of Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar in the Rajya Sabha. Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar got angry and advised him to behave properly. After this, the opposition members walked out shouting slogans of 'Dadagiri Nahi Chalegi'. A censure motion was also passed in the Rajya Sabha, terming the behavior of the opposition as inappropriate. After the uproar and the censure motion, the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm.

What is Article 67?

According to Article 67 (B), the Vice President can be removed from office by a resolution passed by a majority of all the then members of the Rajya Sabha and with the consent of the Lok Sabha. For this, a notice of 14 days should be given.

Where did the controversy start?

In the Rajya Sabha, the opposition raised the issue of Ghanshyam Tiwari's comment on Mallikarjun Kharge. Jairam Ramesh said that some objectionable things were said. On that you said that we will give a decision. What is that decision? In response, Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar said that both Mallikarjun Kharge and Ghanshyam Tiwari came to my chamber. Every single thing was monitored.

Jairam Ramesh demanded an apology

Jairam Ramesh said that Ghanshyam Tiwari had said that if there is anything objectionable, I am ready to apologize in the House. Khargeji also agreed that there is nothing objectionable. It was not understood at that time. Ghanshyam Tiwari said good things while praising Mallikarjun Kharge. There was nothing objectionable. On this issue, Mallikarjun Kharge said that the House should also know these things. The Speaker said that Ghanshyam Tiwari spoke in parliamentary language.

Jairam Ramesh demanded an apology. On this the speaker said that no one apologizes for praise. He will not apologize. Pramod Tiwari said that he does not want to repeat what he has said. This tone was not befitting the leader of the opposition. Jairam Ramesh said that there was an allegation of nepotism, there was talk of nepotism.

You may be a celebrity but here you have to maintain the dignity of the house

Jaya Bachchan told Jagdeep Dhankhar that I am an actress and understand gestures. Dhankhar ji I am sorry but your tone is not right. We are all Rajya Sabha colleagues. Chairman Dhankhar replied that Jayaji you have achieved a great achievement. You know that an actor is a subject of a director. I do not want to repeat every day. I do not want to do my schooling every day. Are you talking about my tone? A lot has been said. I will not tolerate it.
