Kheda: An unarmed jamadar working in Kheda LIB branch has been caught red handed taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh for issuing a clearance certificate. A bribe of Rs 5 lakh was demanded in exchange for a police clearance certificate for the lost passport of the petitioner's son.
The petitioner's son has been living in the US for many years. The passport of the son, who was living abroad for years, went missing for unknown reasons. The son informed his father living in India about the loss of the passport and applied to the Indian Embassy to get the passport. Bharatgiri Ishwargiri Goswami, an armored jamadar working in the LIB branch in the Kheda Superintendent of Police office, was approached by the petitioner's father to obtain a no-objection certificate from the police department to make a passport for his son living abroad so that the passport could be returned.
Unarmed Jamadar Bharatgiri working in LIB branch first demanded a bribe of 40 lakhs from the applicant's father for giving the police clearance certificate, at the end of the bribe amount was agreed to be given five lakhs, ACB department contacted the officer of Ahmedabad.
ACB laid a trap near Lal's well at Uttarsanda Station Road and arrested Jamadar Bharatgiri Ishwargiri Goswami red handed with Rs 5 lakh cash and took further action.
