Wakf Act Amendment Bill: While participating in the debate on the Waqf Board Bill, Asaduddin Owaisi attacked the government. He told the government that you are the enemy of Muslims. This bill is proof of this. This bill violates Article 14 of the Constitution, which gives equal opportunity to all citizens to follow their faith. After all, what is the need to bring this bill. There is no non-Hindu in temple committees. Then what is the need for this in Waqf property. Your government is doing the same with Christians and Sikhs.
Imran Masood, Congress MP from Saharanpur Lok Sabha seat of UP, also attacked on this issue. He said that this bill violates the law. It is against the Constitution. Imran Masood said that the government is arguing that the Waqf Board is an institution and it is not a religious place. This is wrong because the Waqf Board is the one that oversees mosques, dargahs and other Muslim institutions in the country. It takes care of their property. Therefore, it cannot be separated from the religious matters of Muslims.
We lost, that's why we brought such a bill.
Akhilesh Yadav also joined the discussion and asked what is the reason for including non-Muslims in the Waqf Board. What can happen if we hand over everything to the District Magistrate? You can understand it. This happened at one place and then you all know what the District Magistrate did. This bill is being brought because these people have lost recently. Such a bill is being brought to please some of their staunch supporters. Parties like DMK, TMC, Sharad Pawar's NCP have also opposed this bill.
