In Hamirpur district, cyber thugs hacked the SDM's ID and password and transferred Rs 16 lakh of 84 farmers to their accounts. After this matter came to light, the district administration was also stunned.
Changed bank account and spent 6 lakh rupees
The case is related to SDM Pawan Kumar Pathak of Hamirpur district headquarters. The miscreants hacked the ID and password given to the victims of natural disaster. During this, he changed the bank accounts of 84 farmers affected by the rain and registered their accounts and withdrew Rs 16 lakh. The SDM was stunned as soon as he came to know about the case. He informed his senior officers about this and also lodged a complaint with the police.
This amount was given to the disaster victims
According to SDM Sadar Pawan Pathak, Rs 19 crore was allocated to him for natural disaster management. Which was to be given to the people affected by fire, flood, landslide and heavy rain. Out of which hackers withdrew Rs 16 lakh. He told that to distribute grants to hailstorm affected farmers, Lekhpals have fed their details online through their login ID.
Account numbers of 84 farmers were changed
Pawan Pathak said that after approval at all levels, online payment was sent to the farmers' accounts. But if there was any mistake during feeding, the payment was returned. On which offline data was modified and sent. The account numbers of 84 farmers registered in the return list were changed by unknown hackers. He said that Rs 16 lakh was sent mostly to accounts operated in Maharajganj and Gorakhpur.
The accountant was suspended
On July 1, ADM Finance and Revenue Vijay Shankar Tiwari sent a letter to the SDMs of Sadar and Maudha tehsils as well as the Tehsildars asking them to send the money from the treasury to the bank accounts of the farmers affected by the rain. After which, Lekhpal Pradeep Yadav was prima facie held guilty for transferring the money of 11 farmers of Pandhri village of Sumerpur area to other accounts and was suspended. After which this entire matter came to light.
