132 mm rain in 90 minutes

The Assam government on Monday blamed water from Meghalaya for the floods in Guwahati. The Assam Chief Minister's Office posted on Twitter that parts of Guwahati were hit by flash floods due to record rainfall in the surrounding hills of Meghalaya. It was also reported that Khanapara received 132 mm of rain in 90 minutes on Monday. This is about 20-25% of the total rainfall in the city during the monsoon season. Apart from this, Assam Minister Ashok Singhal has blamed the water coming from the neighboring state of Meghalaya for the severe floods in Guwahati. For this, he showed the red colored water of the flood as evidence. Singhal said that this red color is due to the red soil of Meghalaya.
