Mumbai: Gold prices in the Mumbai jewellery market today declined after rising. While silver remained volatile. However, there were signs in the global market that the price of gold again rose and it went above $ 2400 an ounce. Meanwhile, new demand remained sluggish at home. Jewelers kept an eye on the dollar as it fluctuated from high to low in the currency market.
In Ahmedabad market today, the price of 10 grams of gold was Rs 71800 at 99.50 and Rs 72000 at 99.90. The price of silver in Ahmedabad was Rs 80500 per kg. In the world market, the price of gold increased from 2393 to 2394 per ounce to 2405 to 2406 dollars per ounce.
Following gold, global silver prices also rose from 26.72 to 26.73 to 27.27 to 27.05 to 27.06 dollars per ounce. Global crude oil prices rose sharply today, which had a positive impact on gold prices. However, global copper prices were down by 1.14 percent today. There were indications that China's export and import data were weak.
Meanwhile, gold prices in Mumbai bullion market today fell from Rs 68,905 to Rs 68,665, down by Rs 99.50 to Rs 68,665, silver fell from Rs 68,906 to Rs 68,941, silver by Rs 99.90 to Rs 69,182. Silver prices in Mumbai today rose from Rs 79145 to Rs 79158 without GST to Rs 79159.
Gold and silver prices in Mumbai were 3 per cent higher than this price including GST. Meanwhile, platinum prices in the world markets were in the range of $931 to $932 and $909 to $910 per ounce. Palladium prices were at $900 to $901 and $852 to $853 respectively.
In the global crude oil market today, the price of Brent crude rose from 75.71 to 78.30 to 78.09 dollars per barrel. The US crude prices were at a high of 72.29 to 75.12 to 74.82 dollars. However, the American Petroleum Institute said that the stock of crude oil in the US has increased by 1 lakh 76 thousand barrels, while the stock of gasoline has increased from 33 to 34 lakh barrels.
