Ranchi, 7 August (HS). Former minister Gopal Krishna Patar alias Raja Peter, accused in the murder case of former minister Ramesh Singh Munda, has withdrawn the petition filed in Jharkhand High Court. In this, he had challenged the testimony of the investigation officer of the case being recorded in the NIA court during the trial before the testimony of all the witnesses was completed. He had also requested not to accept the testimony of the investigator.
A petition was filed in the High Court on behalf of Raja Peter stating that the trial in the case is going on in the NIA Court, Ranchi, in which the statements of witnesses are being recorded on behalf of the prosecution. During the trial, the testimony of the Chief Investigation Officer (researcher) of the case should have been at the end, but the testimony of the investigator was completed before the testimony of other witnesses was completed. After the testimony of the investigator in the case, the cross examination of other witnesses will not be done properly. Therefore, the testimony of the Chief Investigation Officer should not be considered. During the hearing of the case, a request was made on behalf of Raja Peter to withdraw this petition, on which the court granted permission to withdraw the petition.
This case is currently in the testimony stage. On July 9, 2008, former minister Ramesh Singh Munda was shot dead by Naxalites during a program in a school in Bundu. Many accused including former minister Gopal Krishna Patar alias Raja Peter and Naxalite Kundan Pahan are facing trial in the case.
