New Delhi, 07 August (HS). The Election Commission has announced by-elections on 12 Rajya Sabha seats in 9 states. Voting for these seats will be held on 3 September and the results will be declared on the same day.
Voting will be held for two seats each from Assam, Bihar and Maharashtra and one seat each from Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana and Odisha.
Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Sarbananda Sonowal from Assam, Misa Bharti, Vivek Thakur from Bihar, Deepender Singh Hooda from Haryana, Jyotiraditya Scindia from Madhya Pradesh, Udayanraje Bhosale and Piyush Goyal from Maharashtra, KC Venugopal from Rajasthan, Biplab Kumar Deb from Tripura have won the Lok Sabha this time. Due to this, their seats in the Rajya Sabha are vacant. At the same time, K. Keshav Rao from Telangana and Mamata Mohanta from Odisha resigned from the Rajya Sabha on 5 and 31 July respectively.
The nomination process for these seats will begin from August 14 and the nomination process will be completed with the withdrawal of nominations on August 26 for Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tripura and on August 27 for Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Telangana and Odisha. After this, voting for these seats will be held on September 3.
