Opposition parties in the Lok Sabha criticised the government, alleging that the Union Budget is only for industrialists and there is nothing in it for the salaried and middle class.

However, BJP MPs rejected the opposition's allegations and said that this time's budget is historic and its aim is to make India a developed country.

While beginning the debate on the Finance Bill, Congress MP Amar Singh said that it seems in the budget that the central government is imposing more taxes on the poor. The government has not taken any measures in this budget to reduce unemployment or inflation.

He asked that personal tax is 19 percent while corporate tax is 17 percent. Why is personal tax higher than corporate? You have reduced corporate tax in every way while increasing the personal case.

He further said that according to the World Inequality Report, the richest 1% of India's people own 40% of the country's wealth. He alleged that the government is making the rich even richer.

Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra criticized the budget and said that 31 percent of the people in the country are middle class. 60 to 65 percent of the people are poor. These two categories have been deliberately ignored in the budget.
