New Delhi, 07 August (HS). After a strong start in the domestic stock market today, the pressure of profit booking is seen building up. Today's trading started with a strength of more than one percent, but after the market opened, both the Sensex and Nifty indices slipped below the upper level due to profit booking. After the first one hour of trading, the Sensex was trading with a strength of 0.74 percent and the Nifty with a strength of 0.92 percent.
Among the major stocks of the stock market, ONGC, Coal India, BPCL, Hero MotoCorp and Shriram Finance were trading with gains of 6.37 percent to 2.26 percent after the first hour of trading. On the other hand, Eicher Motors, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra and IndusInd Bank were trading with losses of 0.68 percent to 0.33 percent.
Till now, there was active trading in 2,234 shares in the stock market. Out of these, 1,711 shares were trading in the green zone by making profit, while 523 shares were trading in the red zone by incurring loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 25 shares remained in the green zone with the support of buying. On the other hand, 5 shares were trading in the red zone due to selling pressure. While out of 50 shares included in Nifty, 44 shares were seen trading in the green zone and 6 shares in the red zone.
The BSE Sensex opened today with a gain of 972.33 points at 79,565.40 points. As soon as the trading started, the index jumped to 79,639.20 points with the support of buying, but after this profit booking started in the market, due to which the movement of this index declined. After the first 1 hour of trading amid continuous buying and selling in the market, at 10:15 am, the Sensex was trading at 79,177.94 points with a gain of 584.87 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty also started trading today at 24,289.40 points, jumping 296.85 points. As soon as the market opened, this index jumped to 24,306.45 points with the support of buying. But after this, due to profit booking in the market, the movement of this index also started declining. After the initial 1 hour of trading amid continuous buying and selling in the market, at 10:15 am, Nifty was trading at 24,213.05 points with a gain of 220.50 points.
Earlier on Tuesday, the previous trading day, the Sensex closed at 78,593.07 points with a weakness of 166.33 points i.e. 0.21 percent. On the other hand, the Nifty ended Tuesday's trading at 23,992.55 points with a decline of 63.05 points i.e. 0.26 percent.
