Heart related diseases on the rise among youth in Gujarat, more than 200 cases reported every day

Heart disease cases in Gujarat: Heart related diseases have been increasing continuously in Gujarat for quite some time. 108 emergency ambulance service received 40,258 heart related cases in seven months from January to July in the year 2023, thus 191 cases per day, this time in the seven months of the year 2024, 47,180 calls have been received, that is, 224 heart related emergency cases have come every day in which patients were rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. In the month of July, 7133 calls were received in Gujarat, whereas in the same period last year, 6,322 patients came.

According to doctors associated with Civil UN Mehta Heart Hospital, cases of heart disease have increased among the youth in the last few years. The truth is that many reasons including fast and irregular lifestyle, stress, alcohol consumption, smoking, fast food are responsible for this. The prevalence of this disease has increased by about 20 to 22 percent among youth aged 30 to 40 years. A heart disease patient should get adequate sleep, exercise as per medical advice, people who sleep less than seven hours are more likely to get this disease. According to doctors associated with a private hospital, it is necessary to draw a conclusion on the basis of postmortem in case of sudden death due to cardiac arrest.

According to a government report, more than 2280 people have died due to cardiac arrest in the state during the year 2021. This includes more than 400 patients aged between 45 to 54 years.
