HDFC Credit Card: HDFC Bank credit cards are very popular, however the bank is now going to make many changes in its credit card rewards program. The new rules are going to come into effect from September 1. This will give you only 2000 reward points per month on utility transactions. Apart from this, reward points will not be given on education payments. Earlier, many banks have changed the rules to prevent the use of personal cards in business and commercial transactions.
HDFC Bank has changed many new rules on credit cards from August 1. In this, 1 percent fee is being charged on utility transactions of more than Rs 50 thousand. Apart from this, this limit on business cards has been increased to Rs 75 thousand per transaction.
However, insurance bills are not considered utility transactions. Now the maximum limit for earning points in a month has also been fixed. Apart from this, a limit of 2000 reward points per month has also been imposed on mobile and cable bills.
The bank said that in many cases people have used personal credit cards for business related transactions. Apart from this, reward points are also being earned by paying other people's bills. This also gives them the benefit of offers based on their spending. Now due to the limit on reward points, credit cards will not be misused.
Also, HDFC Bank will not give any reward points for making education payments through third-party apps like CRED, Paytm, Cheq and MobiKwik. However, reward points will be given for paying fees directly through the school or college website or POS machine. As per the fee payment rules that came into effect from August 1, a 1 percent fee is being charged on transactions made through third party apps.
Paying utility bills like electricity and water will not earn you more than 2000 reward points in a month.
You will not get more than 2000 reward points even on phone and cable TV recharge.
Reward points will not be awarded if you pay school and college fees through third party apps like Credi.
Paying school and college fees through business cards like BizBlack Metal Card and BizPower will not earn reward points.
HDFC Bank has also imposed new rules on co-branded cards like Swiggy and TataNew and premium cards like Infinia.
Apart from this, from October 1, only 50,000 reward points can be spent on Tanishq vouchers in a quarter on the Infinia card.
