Light to moderate rain is expected in Bengal, there will be relief from flood

Kolkata, 06 August (HS). Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal are likely to have generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain or thundershowers during the next 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Kolkata is likely to be around 31˚C and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 27˚C.

In a statement issued by the Meteorological Department on Tuesday, it was told that during the last 24 hours till 6:30 am, the maximum temperature in Kolkata was 30.4˚C, which is 1.6˚C less than normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.9˚C, which is 1.4˚C more than normal. The maximum relative humidity was 96 percent and the minimum relative humidity was 79 percent. During the last 24 hours, Kolkata has received 9.8 mm of rain.

Light to moderate rain is also expected in Howrah and Hooghly districts. The maximum temperature here is expected to be around 32˚C and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 26˚C. South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas districts are also expected to remain cloudy and receive light rain. The maximum temperature in these districts is expected to be around 31˚C and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 27˚C.

There is also a possibility of light rain in the hilly areas. The maximum temperature in Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri will be around 25˚C and the minimum temperature will be around 18˚C.

Light to moderate rain may occur in East and West Medinipur districts. The maximum temperature is likely to be 30˚C and the minimum temperature is likely to be 26˚C.

Malda and Murshidabad districts will also have generally cloudy sky with light rain. The maximum temperature will be 33˚C and the minimum temperature will be 27˚C.

The Meteorological Department has said that during the next 24 hours, the weather in various districts of Bengal will remain generally cloudy and there will be a possibility of light to moderate rain. There may be a slight drop in temperature, due to which the weather will be pleasant.

Due to rain in various districts of West Bengal, the temperature may drop, which will give relief to people from the heat. This rain can prove beneficial for farmers, especially for Kharif crops.
