Rishikesh, 05 August (HS). World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated on Monday at AIIMS Rishikesh. Under this, a poster making competition and technical training program for front line workers were organized.

A poster making competition for MBBS students was organized under the supervision of CFM department head Prof. Dr. Vartika Saxena as part of the World Breastfeeding Week program organized under the guidance of the institute's executive director Professor Dr. Meenu Singh at AIIMS. In the competition, the students gave the message of the importance of breastfeeding for newborn babies through their artworks.

AIIMS Dean Academic Professor Dr. Jaya Chaturvedi said that mother's milk is like nectar for the child. She emphasized that families and mothers should ensure that their newborn babies are fed mother's milk for at least six months. This is very important for the better physical development of the child.

Earlier, under the World Breastfeeding Week, a street play was organised for the public at the Primary Health Centre run under the AIIMS institute, through which the importance of breastfeeding of newborn babies was explained to the general public.
