New Delhi: Two brothers living in the interior areas along the China border in Arunachal Pradesh have been missing for two years. The two cousins are believed to have been abducted by China's army, the People's Liberation Army, and are in their custody. However, China has not confirmed their presence.
Two youths from Arunachal Pradesh, Batelam Tikro (35) and his cousin Bainsi Manyu (37) have been missing from Chaglagam area of Anjo district in Arunachal Pradesh since August 19, 2022. The two brothers were last seen near the Chinese border. They have been missing since searching for herbs on a high mountain near the Chinese border.
Batelam Tikaro's brother Dishanso Tikaro said that Batelam and Bainsi have been taken into custody by the Chinese army PLA. He has contacted local army officials several times to get information about both the brothers. I have been told that the Indian Army has raised this issue with its Chinese counterparts, but they have not yet responded.
Anjo MLA and Arunachal Women and Child Welfare Development Minister Dasanglu Pul confirmed that the two went missing near the Chinese border while searching for medicine. He said that the Chinese side has not yet accepted that the youth is in their custody, but I have been told that he is still alive. After the disappearance of both, Tikro has lodged two missing complaints of both the brothers at the Huliang police station.
According to the complaint, some fellow villagers last saw them in the border area on 24 August 2022, but since then there has been no trace of both. It is worth noting that in September 2020, the Chinese Army PLA allegedly abducted five youths from the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. The youths were released about a week later. On January 18, 2022, a teenager Miram Taron was allegedly abducted by the Chinese Army from Upper Siang district. A week later, Taron was handed over to the Indian Army by the Chinese Army.
