Dhaka: Violence has once again erupted in India's neighboring country Bangladesh. On Sunday, 92 people including 14 policemen were killed and many were injured in clashes between student protesters and police and ruling party workers.
Police used tear gas shells and stun grenades to disperse thousands of student protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to local media, a total of 92 people have died so far in the violence that broke out in 13 districts of Bangladesh.
The Home Ministry has announced an indefinite curfew from 6 pm on Sunday. The government agency has ordered the shutdown of meta platforms such as Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. Mobile operators have also been ordered to shut down 4G mobile internet.
A forum called Students Against Discrimination has announced to start a non-cooperation movement from today demanding the resignation of the government. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hasina has said that the protesters are not students but terrorists and has appealed to the people not to support them.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called a meeting of the National Committee on Security Affairs at her residence Gana Bhawan. The chiefs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, RAB, BGB and other top security officials were present in this meeting.
