Reconstruction of footpaths and roads is a priority: District Magistrate

Rudraprayag, 04 August (HS). The District Magistrate said that the district administration's priority is to restore the footpath and road route damaged due to heavy rains on the Kedarnath Dham Yatra route. Apart from this, every possible effort is being made to rescue the people who are left in Kedarnath as soon as possible. District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar has been getting the entire rescue work done with his team from ground zero for the last four days. While talking to the media, he told that till Sunday evening, more than 10 thousand pilgrims and local people have been rescued from Kedarnath, Lincholi, Bhimbali, Gaurikund, Cheerbasa and other stops.

Now, on a priority basis, reconstruction of roads has been started by employing maximum labour with the help of PWD. He said that this was not possible without the cooperation of local people, labourers, media friends, NDRF, DDRF, NDRF, Police, PRD jawans, heli companies and all security forces, officers and employees involved in the rescue. He also thanked the Chief Minister, Garhwal Commissioner, Disaster Secretary and all other high officials for their guidance and help in making all the arrangements on priority. He said that the administration is confident that with the collective efforts of all the people, the rescue operation will be completed soon and the Kedarnath Dham Yatra will be made smooth. On the other hand, Chief Development Officer Dr GS Khati inspected Chaumasi on Sunday and enquired about the well-being of the rescued passengers. He gave special thanks to the entire village residents including village head Chaumasi Mulayam Singh for their cooperation in the entire rescue operation and taking care of the passengers. On this occasion, District Panchayat member Vinod Rana, Pradhan Sangathan Rudraprayag President Subhash Rawat along with concerned officials and public representatives were present.
