South Dinajpur, 04 August (HS). Despite informing the Gram Panchayat and the Block administration, the village's kutcha road has not been paved. Therefore, on Sunday, the villagers protested fiercely on the state road. Along with this, the villagers expressed their anger by planting paddy on the road. The incident took place in Mahurkismat Pitalimor area adjacent to Gangarampur city.
Actually, the road distance from Pitalimor to Devipur is about one kilometer. Mahinpada village is in between. Thousands of people live in this village. Even after so many years of independence, Mahinpada road has not been paved.
Villagers allege that even a little rain causes knee-deep water to accumulate on the road. Students of the area are unable to go to school and college during the rainy season. Apart from Mahinpada, people of the surrounding villages are also troubled by this. Due to which, on Sunday, villagers protested by blocking the road demanding construction of a paved road. Due to which traffic was disrupted. This caused a lot of trouble to businessmen, farmers and common people who had come to Shibbari market. On receiving the information, Gangarampur police reached the spot and normalized the situation by talking to the villagers.
The villagers allege that the road has been converted into agricultural land. Despite pleading for construction of paved roads at various places, no solution has been found. Therefore, they have been forced to come on the road. In this regard, BDO of Gangarampur block Arpita Ghoshal said, arrangements will be made to make the road paved soon.
