Mumbai: An incident similar to the one in the Hindi film Kerala Files has happened in Ulhasnagar. A family has lodged a complaint at the Vitthalwadi police station on suspicion of converting their daughter to Islam and forcing her to participate in illegal activities.
Based on the complaint of the mother, the police have arrested two people including the daughter in the religious conversion case. Eight accused in this case are absconding and the police are searching for them. The complainant lives with her family in Ulhasnagar Camp-4, Samtanagar area. She used to teach tuition to the children of Afida Sheikh, who lives in the neighborhood. Due to which the Sheikh family used to come to the complainant's house many times.
The complainant's daughter renounced Hinduism under the influence of the Sheikh family and after watching videos of a controversial Islamic preacher on social media. The complainant was in London in June 2022. Then the daughter was converted, the daughter was forced to accept Islam, later her daughter disappeared.
The complainant has said that in the year 2022 he received a letter from Ulhasnagar and Ambarnath Mosque Trust. It confirmed his daughter's conversion, the daughter also withdrew money from her father's account. The daughter has been brainwashed. She may be forced to engage in illegal activities.
Based on the woman's complaint, the police have registered a case against 10 people under sections 153-A, 295, 295-A, 298, 324, fraud and other sections. An officer of Vitthalwadi police station said that along with the complainant's daughter, another person has been arrested. While eight are absconding. Both were produced in the court today, the court gave them three days of police custody.
