CJI Chandrachud on Supreme Court: Chief Justice of India Chandrachud addressed the commemoration of the special Lok Adalat in the Supreme Court. During this, he gave clarification to the senior secretary of the Government of India and a former civil officer. CJI Chandrachud told what the officer said. In which these officials said, 'They did not know that the Supreme Court takes decisions even in small cases. But we are used to seeing decisions in the Supreme Court on big cases.'
The objective of Lok Adalat is to provide justice to the people at their home.
According to reports, CJI Chandrachud said, 'Many people are unaware that the Supreme Court decides on minor cases. When a great man like Dr. BR Ambedkar made this Constitution, he did it as a mission. This court was established in a poor society. The idea behind the establishment of this institution was that it would be a justice that would reach the life of the citizen. The purpose of Lok Adalat is to deliver justice to the people at their doorstep.'
What did CJI Chandrachud say?
CJI Chandrachud said, 'We have received good support at every level in our effort to design the Lok Adalat. We have decided that each PEN will have two judges and two members of the bar. Along with this, there will be a senior advocate and a lawyer from SCAORA. I believe that even though the Supreme Court is located in Delhi, it is the Supreme Court of India. We have recruited officers from across the country in the registry and they will continue to bring diversity, inclusion and knowledge to life and society across the country.'
