Cyber fraud messages for ITR refund: The last date for filing income tax returns is over. An estimated 7 crore people have filed ITR. Now taxpayers are eyeing the refund. Cyber criminals are taking advantage of ITR refund to commit fraud. Recently many taxpayers received a text message that the refund has been received. In which a refund of more than 10 thousand is being shown and they are being asked to click on the link given to transfer the amount to the account. However, many savvy taxpayers found this message strange and they called the customer service of the Income Tax Department and informed about this fraud. The Income Tax Department has clearly said that they do not issue any such refund message.
Hackers are stealing in some way or the other
Cyber hackers are constantly cheating people through new techniques. They are making people their victims by emptying their accounts in some way or the other. Most people get some link on their email and mobile every day, by clicking on which hackers get access to the mobile and empty the bank account.

The Income Tax Department never sends such messages regarding refund. It sends a message regarding refund information even before filing the return. Within about a month of filing the ITR, the refund is deposited in the bank account which is linked to the Income Tax Department website. No separate message is sent to receive the refund.
